The process starts with a clinical interview about your history and what prompted the referral. From there, you complete standardized measures matched to your question, whether that's attention, memory, mood, or readiness for a procedure. Nothing is pass or fail. The tests describe how you function, and honesty gives you the most useful results.
Afterward, I score and interpret everything, then walk you through the findings in plain language. You leave with a written report, a diagnosis if one applies, and concrete recommendations you can hand to your surgeon, your school, or your physician.
Testing is only as good as the person interpreting it, and my training in neuropsychological assessment spans hospitals, medical centers, and residential treatment programs, which matters when your results need to hold up in front of a surgeon, a school, or a specialist.
What testing costs and how payment works
Evaluation fees depend on type and length. Pre-surgical screeners are $100 and comprehensive pre-surgical evaluations are $200. General comprehensive evaluations run $500 to $1,000. ADHD evaluations are $2,000, and neuropsychological evaluations range from $2,000 to $6,000 depending on scope.
I'm not in network with insurance, and I can provide documentation for out-of-network reimbursement. Call your insurance company to ask about your specific benefits. I accept cash, check, and Venmo.

How do I know if I need a psychological evaluation or just therapy?
If your main question is "what is this," testing comes first; if your main question is "help me deal with this," therapy does. An evaluation makes sense when a diagnosis is unclear, when a third party requires documentation, or when treatment hasn't worked and you suspect the diagnosis was wrong. When we talk, I'll tell you honestly which one your situation calls for.
How long does the whole process take?
Most evaluations take a few weeks from first appointment to final report. Testing itself may happen in one longer session or several shorter ones depending on the evaluation type. Pre-surgical screeners are the fastest. Neuropsychological evaluations take the longest because they cover the most ground.

Can my teenager be tested, and do I sit in?
Yes, I evaluate teens ages 13 and older. The interview portion typically includes parent input, while the testing itself is completed by your teen. You'll both be part of the feedback conversation, so your teen understands their own results instead of just hearing about them secondhand.
