Why do I need a psychological evaluation for surgeries?
Having a life altering surgery can be both exciting and scary for a lot of people. Sometimes, medical providers will require a pre-surgical psychological evaluation to assess whether you are emotionally ready for this step, your expectations, and post-operative care plans. The purpose of completing these evaluations is to help set you up for success and decrease any post-op complications after the procedure.
